At True North K9, we focus on building trust, establishing clear communication, and addressing your dog’s state of mind as the forefront of our training approach. Our goal is to show you how to help your dog handle big emotions, address behavioral issues affecting your everyday life, and guide your dog in making good choices so that they can achieve as much freedom as possible. PRIVATE TRAINING

Private training sessions are perfect for owners who want to be more involved in the foundational training process, and prefer to have in-home, individualized attention. Sessions will be focused on demonstration, education, and fine-tuning skills - so that you are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to do the heavy lifting on your own in between each session. Essentially, we will be training you on how to train your dog - as well as providing education and support along the way.

We provide puppy training to dogs 6 months or younger, and our agenda can be tailored based on your puppy’s age and training experience.
We will address the following:
Potty training
Crate training
Intro to basic commands
Structure and boundaries
Healthy socialization and exposures
Problem puppy behaviors
Grooming desensitization
Trust and confidence building
Our goal is to set your puppy up for success and help them develop the behavioral skills they need to thrive.

We also provide training support to owners who want to advance their dogs’ training to achieve off-leash freedom, or for dogs that are struggling with behavioral issues.
We can address any of the following:
Learning basic commands
Pulling or lunging on leash
Destructive behaviors
Inability to settle down
Not listening to you outside
Pushy behaviors
Excessive barking or whining
Big reactions to strangers or dogs
Fearful behaviors
Jumping on guests
Other nuisance behaviors
Recall and off-leash training
A specific recommendation and quote will be provided after an initial consult. Quoted price may change for more complex behavioral modification cases.

It’s important to note that any type of training we provide is intended to be integrated into your everyday lifestyle, and must be reinforced regularly in order to maintain your dog’s progress long-term.
Training equipment is not included in private training programs, but high quality e-collars and slip-leads are available at a discount.
DAY TRAINS

Day training programs are designed for owners who may not have as much time to dedicate to the foundations of training, and are interested in the benefit of having a knowledgeable trainer get to know your dog intimately throughout the process. Your dog will be picked up and dropped off at their home, after spending the day with one of our trainers. Not only will they come home tired and fulfilled, but they’ll be also making progress on their training goals! Dogs will work in a variety of environments, all dependent on the needs of the group. In addition to training, each dog will have the opportunity to engage in structured play, appropriate socialization, and designated down time.

Day training programs consist of full-day training sessions at least once per week, with consistent feedback and instruction given throughout the program so that you can implement these skills in and outside the home. Pickup and drop-off are included, as well as private sessions to review training progress.

Our board & train programs are designed like a retreat, and take place in our trainers’ homes. These programs are best suited for owners who may not have as much time to dedicate to the foundations of training, or are dealing with complex behavioral issues - and are interested in the benefit of having a knowledgeable trainer get to know your dog intimately throughout the process. Unlike a facility-based board & train program, your trainer will be able to provide individualized attention and recreate “real life” scenarios for your dog that will translate more easily to their home environment. In addition to training, your dog will have the opportunity to engage in structured play, appropriate socialization, and designated down time.

We offer customized programs that include consistent feedback and instruction given throughout the program so that you can implement these skills in and outside the home. Owners will have two private sessions included in this package. One at the go home day, and one that can be utilized at any time up until a year after the go home date.
